Reader's Guide:
This week, we get our first glimpses of The Tabernacle—a space that God designed where he could be among his people, in the very middle of them as a nation. Here are a few signposts to guide our readings:
Monday’s reading—ch. 24—is about the relationship that God is creating with his people. If he’s going to live among them (chs. 25-28, etc.), then these are some of the guiding ideas for how the two parties will live together.
Tuesday thru Friday, we’ll read about the design of the Tabernacle and all that goes with it. As you read, notice how special and specialized the elements are—they aren’t common things being re-purposed for religious usage; they’re made specially to glorify God. Notice, also, that so many of the Tabernacles elements have echos of Eden built in (woods & trees, the fruit from those trees, east-vs-west, flowers, and God’s closeness to his people). God is recreating a relationship similar to his original intent for humanity!
